Docking Station

TRANSFORMING MEDWAY THROUGH THE DOCKING STATION PROJECT

Docking Station will be a game-changing space for the cultural and creative industries in Kent, and a world-leading research centre for advanced technology development. Your support will make it happen.

The project will harness the transformative power of immersive technology to open up new possibilities and futures for young people and the communities of Kent and Medway. The vision is built on three interconnected strands:

  • Training and education
  • Business engagement and knowledge transfer
  • Impact-driven multidisciplinary research

HERITAGE AND VISION

This project will restore and regenerate the Police Section House, a derelict Scheduled Ancient Monument, and local landmark within the last remaining undeveloped part of the former Royal Dockyard, Chatham. It will breathe new life into this historic riverside site, preserve the building with a viable, sustainable new use whilst retaining its historical significance, and provide a range of public benefits.

Docking Station will offer state-of-the-art digital facilities for students, businesses, and local people. It will be a new bridge between academia, industry and the community.

MAKING AN IMPACT

Our vision is to create clear pathways to careers and opportunities in the creative and cultural industries for young people, students, businesses, and communities of Medway. We will deliver:

    • Undergraduate industry focused courses in subjects such as Games Design and Screen Skills.

    • Partnership working with Mid-Kent College for Further Education students (16-19).

    • Outreach programmes with the local community and schools

    • Short courses for skills development.

    • Creative business support and incubation.

    • Industry partnerships to ensure excellent career pathways.

    • Improved student employability by addressing the skills gap in the creative digital sector.

    • Research and innovation, driving connections between industry and academics.

    • Increased inward investment to boost the local economy.

"Medway is already an inspiring place to be. I am beyond excited to see how Docking Station will attract new students, and the impact it will have for the local communities and the whole area!"

Zaid Mahmood, President of Kent Union, Medway Alumnus
